Opening Ceremony of the China-Oceania Youth Exchange Festival Held Successfully in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia
On July 30, 2025, the opening ceremony of the China-Oceania Youth Exchange Festival was successfully held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. The event was hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The theme of this year's festival was the "Cultural Inheritance, Protection, and Innovative Development in Ethnic Minority Areas."?Sun Xueqing, Secretary-General of CPAFFC; Liu Yubiao, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; Zhe Xiweng, Party Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Arts University; Ruth Maryanne Cross Kwansing, Minister of Women, Youth, Sports, and Social Affairs of Kiribati; and Chariti Latabwi, Vice President of the Nauru-China Friendship Association, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Youth representatives from Australia and New Zealand, participants of Seminar for Young Leaders of Friendly Organizations in Pacific Island Countries from ten countries, including Fiji, Kiribati, and Malaysia, as well as nearly a hundred youth representatives from various organizations, including the All-China Women's Federation, the Communist Youth League Committee, and the Inner Mongolia Art Theatre from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, attended the event.Secretary-General Sun extended a warm welcome to?the youth representatives from various countries, noting that the friendship between the peoples of China and Oceanian Countries has deep historical roots. The seminar aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of China's development, domestic and foreign policies, and its vision for cooperation with Pacific Island Countries. This, in turn, will contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and trust, expanding and deepening future cooperation, and empowering youth to play a pivotal role in building a China-Pacific Island Countries community with a shared future. The CPAFFC is dedicated to leveraging its unique strengths to advance cooperation in human resources development and people-to-people exchanges, building more bridges for people-to-people engagement, practical cooperation, cultural exchanges, and youth engagement between China and Pacific island countries.This?seminar will last for 10 days and will invite government officials and experts from relevant fields to conduct lectures, on-site teaching, and discussions with 29 young leaders from 10 Pacific Island Countries, in a view to?foster mutual learning and exchange. During their stay in China, participants will also be invited to attend events such as the World Youth Conference for Peace and the China-Oceania Youth Exchange Festival.
