On July 29, 2025, Vice President Lu Xiangdong of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Mohamed Rasheed, Chairman of the South Asia-China Friendship and Cooperation Organization and Chairman of the China Maldives Cultural Association, as well as Indrananda Abeysekera, Vice President of the South Asia-China Friendship and Cooperation Organization and President of the Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation. Vice President Lu expressed his appreciation to Mohamed Rasheed and Indrananda Abeysekera for leading a delegation of young leaders from South Asian countries to China to attend the 2025 China-South Asia Youth Leaders Exchange Program and the World Youth Conference for Peace. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and South Asian countries, as well as on jointly hosting the 9th China-South Asia Friendship Organizations Forum and other related initiatives.
Xu Yan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Asian and African Affairs of the CPAFFC, was present at the meeting.
