The crested ibises, widely distributed in northeast Asia, used to live in harmony with human, which, however, have been declared endangered in 1970s. Fortunately, Chinese scientists accidentally found 7 wild ibises alive in Shaanxi Provience in the year of 1981, and implemented conservation program for this species soon after that. Through protection and care, the beautiful ibises appear in people’s sight again. The ballet combines traditional Chinese dance with classic ballet and modern dance, with the metaphor presented in the story of harmonious coexistence of human and nature as well as of all humans, inspiring people to cherish the crested ibises, to cherish nature, and to cherish the earth.? Foreign diplomats and guests home and abroad coming at the invitation of CPAFFC made the debut a meeting point to enhance their friendship as well as a chance to enjoy the wonderful performance. At the invitation of CPAFFC, former US Vice President Al Gore and his assistant paid a visit to China from November 24 to 26, to attend the Third China Philanthropy Forum. On the afternoon of November 24, Mr. Zhang Heqiang, director general of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, greeted Vice President Al Gore at the capital airport, and had a friendly talk with him.?

A Japanese folk art troupe dispatched by the Min-On Concert Association visited China on a cultural exchange tour from November 16 to 21 at the invitation of the CPAFFC. Headed by Mr. Iijima Shigeo, Vice President of the Min-On, the troupe staged a show respectively in Tsinghua University, China Foreign Affairs University and Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of the CPAFFC, attended the opening ceremony and watched its first show in Tsinghua University. In his speech, Hu extended welcome to the troupe and spoke highly of the significance of the Japanese artists’ visits to Chinese universities where they would interact and forge friendship with Chinese students and the faculty.
