At the invitation of Japan-China Culture Exchange Association (JCCEA), CPAFFC President Hu Sishe led a 5-person delegation to visit in Tokyo, Kyoto and Sapporo in Japan from Oct. 14th to 18th. During his visit, Vice President Hu held meetings with well-known personages from Japanese cultural, educational and economic circles and visited studios of Japanese painters and calligraphers, as well as observed the enterprises and traditional Japanese facilities, thus had a wide exchange of views with the Japanese side on further strengthening the exchanges in civil culture. Vice President Hu said, it is admirable that the civil friendly personages insist on encouraging official diplomacy with non-governmental friendly contact, and promoting the friendship with cultural exchanges. In the future, the both sides should further strengthen the contact in cultural fields, to leave the descendants precious spiritual wealth and legacy of friendship, at the same time to create a cordial atmosphere and public base.

The 13th Lecture Tour by African Ambassadors, hosted by the CPAFFC and organized by Jiangxi Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and Jiangxi People’s? Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, was held in Oct. 14, 2014 in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province. Attendants for the lectures include H.E. Victor SIKONINA, Ambassador of Madagascar and Head of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Hassane Rabehi, Ambassador of Algeria, H.E. Abdoulaye FALL, Ambassador of Senegal, Mr. Mouandjo Mouandjo, representative of Cameroonian Embassy, diplomats of the four African embassies, and representatives of more than 40 government organs, enterprises and universities, totally more than 100 people. Diplomats of the four African Countries respectively introduced their country’s general information and investment policies. All of them expressed the willingness of strengthening the exchange and cooperation with Jiangxi Province and bringing entrepreneurs of Jiangxi to invest in Africa. They also exchanged views with the audience during the question and answer session. H.E.Qiang Wei, Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial? Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation on Oct. 13. Qiang said that the cooperation between Jiangxi and the four African countries had developed quickly, investment amount had increased year by year, and the cooperation potential was large. Vice President Xie Yuan of CPAFFC met with Bill Clifford, President of World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) and his delegation on October 13th in the compound of CPAFFC. Vice President Xie Yuan extended a warm welcome to President Clifford. Mr. Xie briefed on the series of events hosted by CPAFFC to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of CPAFFC and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US. He also expressed the hope? that CPAFFC and WACA? cooperate with and support each other in future programs to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the United States and China. On Sept. 29th, CPAFFC Vice President Hu Sishe met with Mr. Atageldi Shamyradov, Vice_Minister of culture of Turkmenistan, who was paying his special trip to China to attend the series events of Turkmenistan Culture Day. Vice President Hu extended his welcome to Mr. Shamyradov for his visiting to CPAFFC, and congratulated the vice-minister on the success of Turkmenistan Culture Day in Beijing. He deemed this event a beneficial method of promoting the Chinese people’s understanding on the culture and art of Turkmenistan and also an effective measure of drawing the two peoples closer. He also introduced the basic status of that CPAFFC developing its works to Turkmenistan in recent years. He wished Turkmenistan would support CPAFFC to develop cooperation with the correlative departments in Turkmenistan including Ministry of Culture in fields of culture, art, regional collaboration and non-governmental exchanges. On Sept. 23rd, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China-Russia Friendship Association (CRFA), China-Russian Committee of Friendship, Peace and Development (CRCFPD), the reception celebrating 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia diplomatic relations and CRFA was held in the Great Hall of the People. Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress of China, Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council were present at the reception and delivered speeches. Zhang Dejiang characterized China-Russia relations as a model for how major countries get along with one another in the 21st century, citing political trust, pragmatic collaboration, people-to-people exchanges and coordination on international affairs. The CPAFFC, China-ASEAN Association and Chengdu Municipal People’s Government hosted the 9th Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship (CACPPF) from 18th to 20th September 2014, organized by Chengdu Municipal Office of Foreign Affairs and Chengdu Municipal People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in Chengdu of Sichuan province. Vice Chairman Ma Biao of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, President Gu Xiulian of China-ASEAN Association, Chairman Tang Chuanping of Chengdu Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference attended the Conference with ASEAN former state leaders, government ministers, ASEAN Secretariat officials, friendship-with-China associations’ leaders, diplomats accredited to China, local government officials, entrepreneurs as well as representative from cultural and media sectors.? The 9th CACPPF adopted the Chengdu Declaration, stating that “China-ASEAN always be good neighbors, good friends and good partners” is the general trend and people’s common aspiration and that people in China and ASEAN countries should make concerted efforts in building a closer community of common destiny.? CACPPF was originally name CACPPFO (Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship Organizations), jointly initiated by CPAFFC, China-ASEAN Association and friendship-with-China organizations in ASEAN countries in 2006, with the purpose of establishing people-to-people exchange platform, promote mutual trust between Chinese and ASEAN people and push forward pragmatic cooperation.? The CACPPFO has been held annually in China, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.? After past eight years, the CACPPFO has become an important platform for China-ASEAN people-to-people exchanges and made significant contributions to the development of relations between China and ASEAN countries. The theme of the 9th CACPPF is “China-ASEAN relations: new thinkings to the future”.? The Conference include opening and closing ceremonies as well as Summit Forum on ASEAN-China Relations, Forum on ASEAN-China Tourism, Forum on ASEAN-China Media and Forum on ASEAN-China Laboring and Employment.? The 10th CACPPF will be held in Brunei in 2015.

On September 19th, Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of CPAFFC meets with Chairman Ichigo Haruyuki of Pan Asian Friendship Association and the delegation. Mr. Xie appreciated the contribution Chairman Ichigo Haruyuki has made? for decades to promoting cultural exchanges between China and Japan, and expressed his wishes that the two associations work together to further people’s friendship through cultural exchanges so that the bilateral relation of the two neighboring countries could return to the normal track of development at an early date. Ichigo Haruyuki agreed with Mr. Xie and hoped to make more cooperations with CPAFFC and more contributions to the friendship and cultural exchanges between Japan and China. In July, CPAFFC and the Pan Asian Friendship Association successfully held the Chinese Characters Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The delegation discussed with CPAFFC about future cooperation during this visit, and would visit Anyang for exchanges with National Museum of Chinese Characters and other organizations.
